The Mad Teaparty is a music group playing pop, jazz & world music including atmospheric soundscapes.
Creator Valentijn Steenhuis (keys, guitar, voice) brings a wide range of cool songs ranging from funk, soul, jazz and ragtime to seventies folk and rock.
The band’s history goes back to 1990 with Breeze from Amsterdam playing funky soul. The style changed to world music with the Trans Europe Express (TEE). In 2010 they raised the Teaparty powerpop trio that would later evolve into the Mad Teaparty with original songs, dance covers and smooth instrumentals.
They released their first CD in 2012 and recently (2023) made a new EP with nice poppy and jazzy covers.
The Mad Teaparty band toured Belgium, Germany and France and performs live mainly in the Netherlands at festivals, clubs and restaurants.
Music influences: Steely Dan, Sting, Mano Chao, Chili Peppers, Earth Wind & Fire, George Duke, Pink Floyd, Chet Baker, Marvin Gaye, the Crusaders, Bob Marley.
